EKO HOT BLOG reports that the victory marked another major achievement for manager Pep Guardiola, who has now guided the club to 20 major trophies during his successful decade at the Etihad Stadium.
Having already lifted the League Cup earlier in the season, City also became only the sixth team in English football history to win both domestic cup competitions in the same campaign. It is the second time the club has achieved the feat after previously doing so in the 2018/19 season.
The triumph further extended Manchester City’s remarkable FA Cup history, with 122 years now separating their first and latest titles in the competition. Only Arsenal and Manchester United have won the FA Cup more times.
Guardiola also recorded his third FA Cup triumph as Manchester City manager, having already led the club to four consecutive finals and eight straight semi-final appearances in the competition.
Speaking after the victory, City captain Bernardo Silva described the trophy as another memorable achievement in his career at the club.
“The FA Cup is a really, really special competition. To win it means so much to all the players, management and staff,” Silva said.
“After nine years at the Club, I know how much this trophy means to our fans. Being able to lift another trophy at Wembley is such a special feeling. To do so as captain makes this one of the best days of my career.”
Manchester City will now turn attention back to the Premier League title race as they continue their push for an 11th English top-flight crown.
