EKO HOT BLOG reports that zccording to him, the move represents an open endorsement of election rigging and signals a calculated plan to manipulate future elections.
The African Democratic Congress chieftain said the rejection of electronic transmission of results creates room for fraud and electoral manipulation, adding that the decision marks a backward step for democracy in Nigeria.
Melaye urged lawmakers and citizens to resist what he described as a blatant attempt to undermine the will of the people and compromise the integrity of future elections.
He said protecting transparent electoral processes remains critical to sustaining public trust in democratic governance.
Meanwhile, the African Democratic Congress has also condemned the decision of the APC led 10th Senate, accusing it of rejecting key reforms aimed at strengthening the Electoral Act and improving the efficiency of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
In a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC described the Senate’s action as a deliberate effort to weaken Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
The party faulted the refusal to approve electronic transmission of election results and the rejection of provisions allowing electronic download of voter cards.
The ADC also criticised the Senate’s decision to reduce election notice periods and significantly shorten timelines for the publication of candidates’ lists.
According to the party, these decisions undermine transparency and fairness in the electoral process.
The ADC alleged that the moves expose the ruling party’s fear of credible elections in 2027, despite its current political dominance.
The party warned that weakening electoral safeguards could erode public confidence in the democratic process and fuel political instability.

It called on lawmakers to reconsider the amendments and prioritise reforms that promote transparency, accountability and free participation in future elections.
