EKO HOT BLOG reports that Messi achieved the feat on Wednesday at Chase Stadium, scoring just seven minutes into the second leg encounter. He met a low pass inside the box, created space and fired a left-footed shot past the goalkeeper to register his 900th career goal for club and country.
The goal made him only the second player to reach the landmark, following long-time rival Ronaldo, who first achieved the milestone in 2024 and has continued to extend his tally.
Messi reached the mark faster, doing so in 1,142 appearances, compared to Ronaldo’s 1,236 matches.
Despite the achievement, the night ended in disappointment for Inter Miami. The team appeared on course to advance after Messi’s early goal, but Nashville responded in the second half.
Cristian Espinoza scored in the 74th minute to level the match at 1-1. The result saw Nashville progress on away goals, ending Inter Miami’s campaign at the round of 16 stage.

A significant portion of Messi’s goals came during his time at FC Barcelona, where he scored 672 goals. He added 32 during his stint at Paris Saint-Germain and has continued his scoring form with Inter Miami in the United States.
On the international stage, Messi remains Argentina’s all-time leading scorer with 115 goals, including seven recorded during their 2022 FIFA World Cup triumph.
Ronaldo still leads the all-time scoring chart with 965 goals and is targeting the 1,000-goal mark.
