In a statement signed on Friday by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, the military said it had acknowledged the apprehensions expressed by displaced residents of Kurmin Wali over the fate of their abducted relatives.
According to the statement, the AFN reassured affected communities and the general public that the safe rescue and reintegration of all kidnapped victims remained a top priority.
The military dismissed claims of a diminished response, noting that sustained, intelligence-driven operations were ongoing in collaboration with other security agencies within the affected areas and surrounding forests believed to be harbouring the kidnappers.
“These operations involve a combination of ground patrols, surveillance, intelligence gathering and targeted actions carefully designed to locate the perpetrators and secure the release of the hostages without endangering their lives,” the statement said.
Major General Onoja explained that while the distress of affected families was well understood, operational restraint in some instances was a deliberate strategy aimed at protecting the captives and preventing unintended harm.

He added that although certain operational details could not be disclosed for security reasons, significant efforts were underway to dismantle the criminal networks responsible for the abductions.
The Armed Forces reaffirmed their commitment to protecting lives and property, stressing that efforts remained focused on reuniting the kidnapped victims of Kurmin Wali with their families.
The DHQ also called for continued public support, patience and cooperation as security operations progressed towards a successful outcome.
