- Warns Muslim women to seek better understanding
Nigerian Islamic cleric and counsellor, Bello Muhammed Tahir (BMT), has criticised the mindset of some Muslim first wives who describe potential second wives as “husband snatchers,” calling it “sickening and unpalatable.”
Eko Hot Blog reports that the cleric made this known in a Facebook post on Monday, July 21, where he strongly condemned the attitude and urged Muslim women to seek proper guidance on marital conduct.

In his post, Tahir expressed dismay at how common it has become for women to treat the idea of a second wife with hostility.
“It is sickening and very unpalatable how Muslim first wives think that a potential second wife is a husband snatcher,” he wrote. “From where did you get this unGodly conception?”
He stressed that marriage in Islam does not imply ownership, warning against the idea that being the first wife gives exclusive rights over the husband.

Tahir went on to state that the belief is disappointing, especially coming from Muslims, and noted that even many Christians have outgrown such thinking.
He further warned that tables could turn, and some women may find themselves on the other side of the narrative someday.
“I hope Allāh doesn’t test you one day where the table turns and you have to be at the mercy of another,” he added.
Tahir ended his post by advising women to act with wisdom and submission to faith-based principles, praying for divine guidance.
