EKO HOT BLOG reports that the lawsuit follows a controversy over the reassignment of Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Senate seat, which resulted from a political reshuffle after opposition lawmakers switched sides. She resisted the relocation, leading to a confrontation with Akpabio.
In the suit, filed at the Federal Capital Territory High Court on February 25, 2025, Akpoti-Uduaghan listed Akpabio, the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the Senate President’s Senior Legislative Aide, Mfon Patrick, as the first, second, and third defendants, respectively.
Defamatory Statement Allegations
The case, marked CV/737/25, centers on a Facebook post allegedly made by Patrick at the direction of Akpabio. The post, titled “Is the Local Content Committee of the Senate Natasha’s Birthright?”, included a statement suggesting that Akpoti-Uduaghan believed being a lawmaker was merely about “pancaking her face and wearing transparent outfits to the chambers.”
Akpoti-Uduaghan’s lawyer, Victor Giwa, described the statement as defamatory and damaging to her reputation, arguing that it subjected her to ridicule among colleagues and the public.
“A declaration that the words, ‘It is bottled anger by the Kogi lawmaker, who knows nothing about legislative rules. She thinks being a lawmaker is all about pancaking her face and wearing transparent outfits to the chambers,’ are defamatory and intended to cause public opprobrium and disaffection toward the claimant,” the suit stated.

Natasha Drags Akpabio To Court
Akpoti-Uduaghan has urged the court to issue a perpetual injunction preventing Akpabio and his associates from making further defamatory remarks about her on any platform.
She is also seeking:
- N100 billion in general damages.
- N300 million as the cost of legal action.
The case is expected to generate significant attention as tensions continue to rise within the Senate.
