During a worship session, he recounted that the man knocked on his car, attempting to use what Bassey described as a form of enchantment to influence him.
“I just stood there and laughed,” Bassey said, explaining that he responded by quoting scriptures. He cited verses affirming divine protection, including one stating, “Touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm.”

The pastor said the man lingered at the scene, seemingly waiting for the spell to take effect. Bassey referenced another passage, “There is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel,” to highlight his belief that the attempt would fail.
He said he eventually stepped out of his car and told the man to leave immediately. Reflecting on the incident, Bassey admitted he regretted not detaining the individual for the authorities.
Speaking about the encounter, the gospel singer emphasized that his story was not meant to glorify evil but to show the reality of spiritual challenges and the power of faith.

“This was the second time this man, the ‘juju practitioner,’ approached me,” Bassey explained. “He knocked on my car, trying to command me to do something. I just stood and laughed. I reminded him, as the scriptures say, that no one can harm God’s anointed.
I should have held him for the police, but while he waited for his spell to work, I knew Numbers 23:23 says no enchantment can prevail against God’s people. I stepped out and told him to leave immediately. I share this not to boast, but to show that wickedness exists, and faith protects us.”
