The initiative is designed to ease persistent port congestion, curb corruption, and accelerate the clearance of goods.
During the sensitisation exercise, Adeniyi explained that the system allows consignees to submit and track applications remotely, eliminating the need for repeated physical visits to Customs offices.
Adeniyi also warned stakeholders against trying to abuse the process, stating that deliberate cargo abandonment to avoid paying duties will now attract tougher sanctions.

ACG Mohammed Babandede, the Zonal Coordinator for Zone A, praised the new initiative, highlighting its importance for efficiency, transparency, and digital transformation.
Also, Terminal operators and shipping lines at the event pledged their full cooperation to ensure the system’s success, expecting it to deliver a noticeable reduction in congestion and improve turnaround times at the port.
By significantly reducing human interference, this system is a key part of Customs’ efforts to promote transparency and the ease of doing business in Nigeria
