In a joint press statement issued in Bauchi by the forum’s National Chairman, Murtala Jalingo, and Secretary-General, Danladi Bawa, the coalition stated that the federal government’s quick action meets an urgent, long-standing ecological need.
The coalition expressed strong optimism that the intervention fund will be utilized transparently and effectively to address immediate drainage issues, channelization, and the rapid deployment of emergency rescue systems across affected areas.
Beyond the federal funding, the forum reserved high praise for the Managing Director of the Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC), Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa.
They credited Yelwa’s proactive leadership with successfully softening the impact of flooding across commission-regulated states.

Under Yelwa’s administration, the commission has consistently run early-sensitization preparedness campaigns before the onset of heavy rains, helping riverine communities take early precautions.
The forum lauded HYPPADEC’s clear focus on projects that directly improve human lives, rather than just building up bureaucratic structures.
