The bout, which took place in front of a packed crowd, saw Ngannou struggle from the very beginning.
In the first round, Joshua landed a powerful shot that sent the 37-year-old mixed martial artist crashing to the canvas. Although Ngannou managed to beat the count, he never fully recovered from the knockdown.
The second round proved to be the final chapter of the fight, as Joshua unleashed a devastating right hand that forced the referee to halt the contest. Ngannou lay motionless on the canvas, unable to continue the battle.
In the aftermath of his defeat, the Cameroonian fighter took to his X account to express his disappointment and apologize to his fans. “Apologies to everyone; I feel I let you down,” Ngannou wrote, acknowledging the high expectations placed upon him.
Despite the setback, Ngannou remained optimistic about the future, stating, “Today was a bad day in the office, but tomorrow will be another day. Thank you all for the love.”
The loss undoubtedly serves as a bitter pill for Ngannou to swallow, especially after his impressive boxing debut against Tyson Fury last year. However, his gracious apology and determination to bounce back have endeared him to his fans, who continue to support the Cameroonian fighter’s journey in the world of combat sports.
