Nigerian singer-songwriter Simisola Kosoko, better known as Simi, has expressed her deep affection for Nigeria and her hope for a brighter future for the nation.
Eko Hot Blog reports that during her appearance on The 90s Baby Show, Simi said she takes great pride in being Nigerian, describing the country’s people as vibrant, resilient, and unmatched in spirit.

According to her, the energy and uniqueness of Nigerians stand out globally, noting that even international actors rarely attempt to imitate the Nigerian accent because of its distinctiveness and confidence.

“My favourite thing about Nigeria is just the spirit of Nigerians. You can’t replicate it. Nobody else can be a Nigerian other than a Nigerian.
Even when they fake African accents in Hollywood, they never do the Nigerian one. They usually try East or South African accents,” Simi said.
The Duduke crooner lamented the growing trend of emigration, saying many citizens leave not because they want to, but because they seek better opportunities and stability.

She added that if Nigeria provided a more supportive and comfortable environment, most people would happily remain in the country.
“Being Nigerian feels like home. That’s why I wish things were better, because I believe no one would want to leave if the country truly worked for its people,” she concluded.
