Japan’s Coast Guard confirmed the activity, noting that while the missiles were a direct threat to regional stability, they appeared to have landed outside Japan’s exclusive economic zone (EEZ).
The timing of the launches is seen as a deliberate “signal of strength” by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
