NYCN Lagos Hosts “Shaping the Future” Program to Empower Girls and Celebrate International Women’s Day

The Directorate of Gender and Girl Child Empowerment under the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Lagos State Chapter, recently organized a stakeholders program tagged “Shaping the Future” in celebration of International Women’s Day.
Ekohotblog gathers that the event brought together female leaders, youth advocates, and stakeholders to promote gender empowerment and youth development across Lagos State.

The program focused on promoting gender sensitivity, re-orientation, skills training, and empowerment for young women, with the aim of encouraging active participation in leadership and community development.
Distinguished guests included Dr. Mrs. Kehinde Ajala, President of the Wives of Local Government Chairmen in Lagos State, and Miss Yemisi Ransom-Kuti, a known advocate for women’s rights and youth development.
The Chairman of NYCN Lagos State, Engr. Ibrahim Adigun, was also present with members of his cabinet. Other attendees included voluntary organizations, Comrade Alonge Oluwayemisi Elizabeth representing Epe Local Government, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Matters, Comrade Jimoh Fatimo, and Comrade Mamud Shukurat.
Dr. Kehinde Ajala, while addressing attendees, stated, “Empowering girls and women is not just about fairness—it’s about progress. A nation that uplifts its women builds a stronger, more resilient future.”
Miss Yemisi Ransom-Kuti added, “Leadership knows no gender. Young women must step forward, use their voices, and be part of shaping their own destinies.”
