The ancient town of Odo Ayandelu came alive with vibrant cultural displays and spiritual reverence as the kingdom, under the leadership of Oba Aderibigbe Asunmo, marked its annual Eebi/Agemo Festival in grand style.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the celebration, deeply rooted in tradition, attracted dignitaries, traditional rulers, cultural enthusiasts, and indigenes from within and outside the community, all gathered to witness one of the most significant spiritual and cultural events in the kingdom.
Speaking during the festival, the monarch explained that the Eebi/Agemo Festival is not merely a cultural gathering but a sacred spiritual exercise dedicated to cleansing the land and invoking divine blessings.
“This is part of the cleansing prayers we perform to bring progress, prosperity, and peace to our land. It is a tradition that has been upheld over generations,” he stated.
Oba Aderibigbe further revealed that the celebration is preceded by a series of traditional rites carried out in the days leading up to the main event, emphasizing that each stage holds deep spiritual meaning for the people of the kingdom.
Beyond its spiritual significance, the festival also serves as a unifying force for the community. According to the monarch, the occasion provides an opportunity for sons and daughters of Odo Ayandelu, both at home and in the diaspora, to return and reconnect with their roots.
“It brings our children from far and near, home and abroad, as well as visitors and well-wishers, to celebrate together and strengthen our bond as a people,” he added.
The highlight of the festival was the colourful appearance of various Agemo masquerades, each representing unique traditional significance and lineage. Among those that graced the occasion were Agemo Oluweri, Agemo Balogun, Agemo Iroko, Agemo Felefo, and Oba Oni-Ire, alongside other Agemo from neighbouring communities who joined in the celebration.
The performances of the Agemo masquerades, marked by rhythmic movements, chants, and symbolic displays, captivated attendees and reinforced the richness of Yoruba cultural heritage.
The event also witnessed the presence of notable personalities, including Gani Adams, as well as several prominent monarchs from across Lagos State and other parts of the country, further underscoring the importance of the festival.
