Okowa Attends Memorial In First Public Appearance Since Arrest
Former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa made his first public appearance since his release, joining Governor Sheriff Oborevwori at a service of songs held in honor of Mrs. Victoria Ossai Obielum, mother of politician Godwill Obielum.
Okowa had been detained on November 4, 2024, over allegations of ₦1.3 trillion fraud but was released after four days on bail with his passport confiscated as part of the conditions.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the memorial service, held on Wednesday at Obielum’s residence in Asaba, was attended by notable figures, including Delta State PDP Chairman Solomon Arenyenka, members of the party’s executive committee, various political personalities, and both serving and retired security officers.
Delivering the sermon, Pastor Ifeanyi Ogude of Heaven Bound Christian International Church Ministry encouraged attendees to live meaningful lives.
“Nobody knows when death will come,” he said, “so people should live good lives and leave legacies they will be remembered for.”
Mrs. Obielum, who passed away at 87 on June 20, 2024, will be laid to rest on Saturday, November 16, in Ushie, Ndokwa East Local Government Area.
The service of songs paid tribute to her life and legacy, drawing a broad community of political and community leaders who gathered to honor her memory.
