The first daughter of late gospel singer Omije Ojumi has paid an emotional tribute to her mother, describing her as a strong and principled woman who remained devoted to her children despite the challenges in her marriage.
Speaking on Wednesday at the service of songs held in Ojumi’s honour, her daughter, Jomiloju, recounted how her mother consistently stood by her children, even during periods when their father was absent, Eko Hot Blog reports.

She said the late singer was determined to raise disciplined and responsible children, driven by a resolve to ensure they would not repeat what she viewed as her own marital mistakes.

According to Jomiloju, her mother’s life revolved around her children’s well-being and future, stressing that education was a major priority for her.
“She was always there for us, even when our father wasn’t,” she said. “Her goal was to make sure we became responsible and achieved more than she did in her marriage.”
She added that Ojumi made personal sacrifices to enrol her children in the best schools within her reach, believing education was key to securing their future.

In a highly emotional moment, Jomiloju also pledged publicly to fulfil her mother’s wish by taking responsibility for her younger brother and guiding him on the right path.
“I promised my mum that I will take care of my younger brother,” she said, adding that she would ensure he grows into the responsible and prayerful son her mother hoped for.
