Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, the monarch confirmed ongoing intelligence reports pointing to the movement of terrorists toward the region. He stressed that the South West would confront the security challenge directly and prevent any form of infiltration.
When asked if he had verified the presence of terrorists advancing into the South, the Ooni said, “Yes, we have discovered that, and that’s the truth, and that’s the reason why we’re coming together. We are enforcing and strengthening our local guards; we are very strong. We, traditional institutions, we’re very strong when it comes to that.”
He added that the current administration had already agreed to collaborate with local hunters and forest guards, who he described as efficient and deeply rooted in community protection.
“We don’t joke with them. We’re going back to our ancestral roots. So, for us, we are facing it headlong. We have intelligence information. They are coming closer to us, and we’re going to send them back,” he said.

The monarch stressed that Yoruba history shows a long-standing resistance to external aggression, stating, “It has happened in the past. In the 18th Century, in the 17th Century; we have actually done that. We’ve never been conquered, and it’s not going to happen again.”
