- Global music icon David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has been officially appointed as the Head of Youth Mobilization for the Osun State Campaign Council.
- Davido will lead grassroots efforts to engage young voters, a demographic expected to decide the outcome of the August 2026 governorship election.
- The appointment coincides with a major row between the Osun State House of Assembly and INEC over the “suspicious” transfer of the state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) to Ondo State.
The race for the Osun State Government House has taken a high-profile turn as Governor Ademola Adeleke enlisted his nephew and international superstar, Davido, to spearhead his re-election campaign.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Davido confirmed the appointment on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, signaling a more structured political role for the artiste who has long been a vocal advocate for his uncle.

“I have been appointed by the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, and flag bearer of the Accord Party as Head of Youth Mobilization of the Campaign Council!” Davido announced via X. “We look forward to a smooth campaign and your re-election, your excellency! 4+4.”
While the Adeleke camp fortifies its mobilization strategy, the Osun State House of Assembly has raised red flags regarding the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Lawmakers are questioning the sudden redeployment of the state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. Mutiu Agboke, to Ondo State just months before the polls.
The Assembly described the move as part of a “deliberate pattern” aimed at influencing the electoral outcome.

In a strongly worded statement, the House alleged that additional deployments of “interested officials” are being planned for key positions in ICT and administration to compromise the democratic will of the people, particularly in the Ife/Ijesa senatorial district.
“No amount of administrative changes or deployments will override the resolve of our people,” the Assembly stated, urging citizens to remain vigilant.
