- Youths in Ikoyi, Osun State, are demanding that the Accord Party zone its 2027 House of Assembly ticket for Irewole/Isokan to Isokan LGA, citing a long-standing bilateral agreement to rotate the seat every four years.
- The community is protesting rumors that Governor Ademola Adeleke plans to grant “automatic tickets” to current lawmakers who defected with him to the Accord Party, a move they say bypasses Isokan’s turn.
- Youth leader Orolade Ibidola warned that the Accord Party will be barred from holding meetings or campaigning in Ikoyi if the ticket is not returned to Isokan for the sake of fairness.
The political atmosphere in Osun State is heating up ahead of the 2027 general elections as youths from the Ikoyi community issued a stern warning to Governor Ademola Adeleke and the leadership of the Accord Party.
Eko Hot Blog reports that at the center of the dispute is the House of Assembly seat for the Irewole/Isokan State Constituency.

According to local youth leaders, a rotational agreement has existed since the state’s creation in 1991, ensuring the seat alternates between the two local governments every four years to prevent internal crisis.
With the current representative, Abiola Inaolaji, hailing from Irewole, the youths insist it is now the turn of Isokan.
The appeal follows reports suggesting that Governor Adeleke intends to protect all incumbent House members who followed him in his recent defection from the PDP to the Accord Party.
“This arrangement does not sit well with us,” stated Ikoyi Youth Leader, Orolade Ibidola, during a press briefing on Saturday. “Ever since 1991, there has been a bilateral agreement that the candidature will be rotated… irrespective of political party. The current lawmaker is from Irewole; it is now the turn of Isokan.”

The youths did not limit their demands to the ruling coalition.
They also called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) to zone its House of Representatives ticket to Ikoyi, lamenting that the community has been “consistently overlooked” for meaningful appointments and elective posts for decades.
The community’s stance is firm: failure to honor the rotational pact will lead to a total boycott of the Accord Party within the town.
“A representative of the Accord Party would not be allowed to hold any meeting or stage campaigns in the town if the ticket is not returned to Isokan,” Ibidola warned.
As of Sunday morning, the Director of Media for the Osun Accord Party, Oladele Bamiji, has not officially responded to the community’s demands.
