The breakdown released by the faction shows that 2,122 aspirants are seeking tickets for state Houses of Assembly, while 748 are contesting for seats in the House of Representatives. Another 198 individuals are vying for senatorial positions, 112 are governorship aspirants, and one person is contesting for the party’s presidential ticket.

The announcement was made in a statement posted on the party faction’s official X account on Sunday. The statement also confirmed the formation of screening committees and appeal panels to oversee the process.
According to the faction, the decision followed the approval of the party’s timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 elections during the 104th meeting of its National Executive Committee.
The statement explained that the Interim National Working Committee had approved the publication of committee members responsible for handling the screening and appeals process in line with the party’s electoral guidelines.
The screening exercise is scheduled to take place nationwide on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, beginning at 10 a.m.
Party officials advised aspirants with questions or concerns to contact the organising secretary at the faction’s national secretariat.

The development comes as the PDP continues to grapple with an internal power struggle between the camp loyal to Governor Makinde and another faction linked to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The Makinde-backed bloc had earlier inaugurated a 13-member Interim National Working Committee headed by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki and has continued preparations for the 2027 elections, including the release of its own timetable and nomination process.
However, supporters of the Wike-led faction have dismissed the actions as invalid and unauthorised.
Governor Makinde has also openly expressed interest in contesting for the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the next general election.
