Confirming the development in a statement on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, said the intelligence-led raid led to the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of a large cache of illicit substances and suspected stolen property.
Items recovered during the operation included substances suspected to be Indian hemp, packets of rolling papers (rizlas), axes, machetes, vandalised electrical cables, bundles of roofing sheets, aluminium windows, cartons of assorted food items and beverages, sachets of illicit gin, a submersible water pump, as well as several electrical and electronic appliances.
According to the police, the chairman of the village council identified the recovered water pump as property belonging to the Ikot Ebom Itam Village Hall borehole facility, which had earlier been reported stolen.
The command disclosed that the suspect allegedly confessed to stealing the pump from the community facility during preliminary interrogation.

Investigators also revealed that initial findings indicated the premises had been functioning as a major distribution centre for illicit drugs and a storage point for suspected stolen items.
The police assured residents that investigations are ongoing and pledged that the suspect would be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
The command reiterated its commitment to sustaining operations against criminal networks and ensuring the safety of residents across Akwa Ibom State.
