New details have emerged regarding the recent re-invitation of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President Joe Ajaero and Secretary General Emmanuel Ugboaja by the Nigeria Police Force.

This follows an earlier invitation related to serious allegations.

EKO HOT BLOG recalls Ajaero was summoned by the police over accusations including “criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrime.

” However, a second invitation was issued on August 28, 2024, by CP Rufus Alajide on behalf of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Department (FID). This latest request pertains to allegations of “criminal intimidation, malicious damage to property, and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.”

Recent updates reveal that the new invitation is related to a petition by a private company rather than the initial terrorism financing allegations. According to sources, “The issue of terrorism financing has been resolved. The latest invitation stems from a fresh complaint by a company concerning alleged disruptions.”

Falana confirmed, “A few months ago, a private company filed a complaint against the NLC leadership regarding the picketing of its premises. The new allegations against Comrade Joe Ajaero are confined to criminal intimidation, conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace, and malicious damage to property.”
