President Bola Tinubu has announced his intention to establish a leadership committee to foster lasting peace in the region in response to the persistent violence in Benue State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the committee will consist of the Tor Tiv V, Och’Idoma, and other influential traditional rulers who will convene in Abuja to collaborate on effective solutions to address the ongoing crisis.

Tinubu’s visit to Makurdi follows the devastating attack in Yelwata that claimed over 50 lives. He highlighted the need for unity among Nigerians in combating common enemies.
The President stressed that cooperation and collaboration were essential in overcoming the persistent violence that has plagued Benue State for years.

“I will want us to create this leadership committee now and then we meet in Abuja to really fashion out the nucleus for a lasting peace, and I’m ready to invest in that peace.
“And I want the traditional rulers, Tor Tiv and Ochidoma to be included in this peace committee. I think by now you will be bored of hearing my voice, but I give you the assurance, we will find peace, we will convert this tragedy to prosperity.”
The leadership committee will serve as a crucial platform for key stakeholders in Benue State to discuss and implement strategies aimed at promoting peace, security, and stability in the region.
