Prof Anthony Ani Wins Ebonyi South Senatorial Seat, Replaces Umahi
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Professor Anthony Ani, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the bye-election in Ebonyi South Senatorial District.
The Returning Officer, Uchechukwu Eze, made the declaration in the early hours of Sunday at Afikpo North Local Government Area, serving as the senatorial district headquarters. Professor Ani secured a commanding victory with 46,270 votes, surpassing his opponents by an overwhelming margin.
His closest rival, Ifeanyi Eleje of APGA garnered 3,513 votes.
Silas Onu of the PDP polled 2,783 votes and Mr Linus Okorie of the LP scored 2,710 votes in the election.
Following his victory in the bye-election, Professor Ani, the newly elected Senator-elect, will assume the position previously occupied by Senator Dave Umahi.
Recall that the former Governor of Ebonyi State resigned after being appointed as the Minister of Works by President Bola Tinubu.
