Eko Hot Blog reports that the founder of DAAR Communications, owners of AIT and Raypower FM, Raymond Dokpesi, died on Monday, May 29, 2023.
In a statement Monday evening, the family disclosed their patriarch’s demise through Raymond Dokpesi (JNR).

The family made the announcement without stating the cause of death.
But they described him as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
“High Chief Dokpesi was also a respected and accomplished businessman, a pioneer in the media industry, and a philanthropist who dedicated his life to the service of his country and his community. His legacy will live on through the impact he made on the lives of many,” the statement reads in part.
Later Monday evening, Eko Hot Blog gathered that Dokpesi fell off a treadmill in his Abuja home on Monday morning. The accident led to his death at a hospital.
The deceased, 71, had suffered a stroke in February but was believed to be recuperating.
A statement issued and signed by the Group Managing Director of DAAR Communications, Tony Akiotu, confirmed that the company’s founder fell off a treadmill machine.
Akiotu stated that the fatal fall came as Dokpesi was recovering from an illness and had to do routine exercises as part of recuperation.
The DAAR communications boss added that the media mogul was sick for some weeks before the fall that claimed his life, noting that Dokpesi was using the machine to exercise before the tragic event happened.
“The board and management of DAAR Communications PLC wishes to inform the general public of the death of our founder, High Chief Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi, of, which the sad event occurred today 29th May 2023,” the statement resds.
“He had been ill in the last few weeks but was on his way to full recovery. He had a fall off his treadmill during a routine gym exercise.
“Further announcement as regards the burial arrangement will be made by the family.”
