Speaking at the event held at the Oyo State Government Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, Mrs. Tinubu, represented by the wife of Oyo Governor, Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde, emphasized the critical role women play in nation-building.
She noted that the program aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes inclusivity, economic growth, and sustainable development, with a particular focus on empowering women economically.
She highlighted that women’s empowerment is central to achieving all the SDGs, especially SDG 5 on gender equality and SDG 8 on decent work and economic growth, which directly relate to the objectives of the program.
“The items being distributed today are meant to equip our women with the necessary tools and resources to build successful businesses and contribute to the prosperity of our nation,” she said, urging beneficiaries to use the resources wisely to grow their enterprises.
In her remarks, the Senior Special Assistant to President Tinubu on SDGs, Princess Adejoke Orelope Adefulire, described the empowerment as a bold initiative benefiting women across all 36 states of the federation, including the FCT.
She said the program represents a milestone in driving meaningful economic impact nationwide.

Princess Adefulire expressed gratitude to Mrs. Tinubu for improving the lives of Nigerian women, noting that RHI has become a beacon of hope, providing opportunities and creating an enabling environment for women to thrive.
She explained that the program aims to build sustainable livelihoods for Nigerian women, aligning with SDG goals, and encouraged beneficiaries to view it as a stepping stone toward financial independence.
She also reaffirmed President Tinubu’s commitment to realizing the SDGs.
Oyo State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Toyin Balogun, described the empowerment as a clear demonstration of Mrs. Tinubu’s dedication to uplifting women and promoting self-reliance across Nigeria.
She commended the First Lady’s vision and urged women to fully utilize the support rather than sell it.
Several beneficiaries expressed their gratitude, saying the empowerment will significantly ease their financial burdens.
