The birthday message, personally signed by the monarch, praised the governor for his passion for public service and his efforts toward building a greater Lagos, saying these had left a lasting impact on countless lives.
“Happy Birthday to His Excellency, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu. Today, we celebrate a leader whose dedication, vision, and commitment to the growth and development of Lagos State continue to inspire many,” the royal message read in part.
The Alara prayed that the governor be blessed with good health, renewed strength, and wisdom, expressing hope that the new year of his life would bring greater achievements, happiness, and success in all his endeavours.
“May you be blessed with good health, renewed strength, wisdom, and many more years of purposeful leadership and fulfillment,” the monarch added.

The warm message from the Alara of Ilara comes months after Sanwo-Olu honoured the monarch with a significant appointment. In February, the governor named Oba Ogunsanwo as the sixth Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), with the appointment taking effect from February 13, 2026, for a term of five years, renewable once.
The appointment was described as historic, as it marked the first time a traditional ruler would serve as Chancellor since the university was established.
Sanwo-Olu said the appointment reflected his recognition of the enduring relevance of traditional institutions in governance, social cohesion, and moral leadership.
