EKO HOT BLOG reports that Bwala speaking during a podcast interview shared on Wednesday dismissed claims that Seyi’s political relevance is solely due to his father’s influence.
According to him, the younger Tinubu has carved a name for himself, especially among Nigerian youth, through bridge-building and grassroots engagement.
“Being the President’s son shouldn’t disqualify him from running for office,” Bwala said.
“Seyi Tinubu could even contest against his father if he wanted to. That’s how independent and mature he is.”
He described Seyi as a calm and down-to-earth individual who has remained approachable despite his privileged background as the son of a former Lagos governor and now the president of Nigeria.
Bwala also pointed out that Seyi has consistently helped young Nigerians across different political divides, noting that he has even come under criticism for supporting individuals who are sympathetic to opposition groups.
“There was a time people bashed him for bringing in young people linked to the Obidient movement. That shows he doesn’t discriminate,” he noted.
Despite being a close associate, Bwala said his personal criticisms of the Tinubu administration have never affected his relationship with Seyi, who he described as someone capable of separating friendship from politics.
He further emphasized that unlike the children of many past Nigerian leaders, Seyi has avoided scandals and online controversies.
“You won’t catch him insulting people online, even though his father gets a lot of heat. He still maintains good relations even with critics,” Bwala explained.
Bwala advised Nigerians to form their opinions about Seyi Tinubu based on personal experience rather than hearsay.
“Many people hate who they don’t even know, just because of second-hand stories. Get to know someone first before judging,” he said.
