After leading the congregation in the two-raka’at Solat, Sheikh Oriyomi offered special prayers for the peace, unity, and continued development of Epe Division and Nigeria at large.
“Eid al-Adha is not just a celebration but a reminder of total submission to Allah’s will,” Sheikh Oriyomi said. “We must live with the spirit of sacrifice, obedience, and compassion. These are the true lessons of this season.”
He urged Muslims to embrace these values beyond the festival, emphasizing that Epe would thrive only if residents collectively uphold moral and religious obligations.
Speaking after the prayer, the Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun, expressed gratitude for the peaceful conduct of the celebration.
“I thank Almighty Allah and the good people of Epe for a hitch-free Eid celebration,” she said. “I also commend our security personnel for their vigilance and professionalism in ensuring a peaceful atmosphere throughout the festivities.”
Princess Animashaun also used the opportunity to caution against the spread of misinformation, which she said could damage the reputation of the community.
“Fake news is dangerous and should be avoided. Epe is peaceful, hospitable, and open for investment. I call on local and international investors to explore the vast opportunities available here,” she added.
In the same spirit, Hon. Hammed Seriki, Commissioner at the Lagos State Local Government Service Commission, emphasized the need for communal unity and support for national leadership.
