Eyewitnesses said the structure caved in with a loud bang, sending dust into the air and drawing residents out of their homes in panic.

Emergency responders from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and officials of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) swiftly arrived at the scene and sealed off the area to prevent further danger.
As of the time of filing this report, the exact cause of the collapse and the level of damage had not been fully determined. However, preliminary findings confirmed that no students were present when the incident occurred.
Rescue teams are also carrying out checks to ensure that no security personnel or school staff were trapped under the debris.
A resident of the area, Mrs Boluwaji Aderinto, whose house is close to the school, voiced the concerns of parents and community leaders, noting that repeated appeals had been made to authorities to fix deteriorating school buildings in the area.

“We heard a loud sound and then everywhere was filled with dust. We thank God it didn’t happen during school hours when children would have been inside. This should be a serious warning to the government,” she said.
Meanwhile, officials from the Lagos State Ministry of Education have visited the scene to assess the situation. A senior ministry official, who spoke anonymously, confirmed that officers, including the Tutor-General and Permanent Secretary of Education District II, were already on ground to evaluate the damage and recommend necessary actions.
The incident has once again sparked concern over the state of infrastructure in public and private schools across Lagos, with renewed calls on the government to urgently address aging structures to prevent future tragedies.
