EKO HOT BLOG reports that the governor also warned that those who boast about using federal might to manipulate elections should be regarded as electoral bandits.
This was contained in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.
In the statement, Adeleke criticised the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, accusing the party of threatening to deploy “federal might” to influence the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
Rasheed said the governor made the remarks while addressing leaders and ward officials of the Accord Party drawn from the 332 wards in Osun State.
According to Adeleke, federal power should be used to promote development and good governance rather than electoral manipulation.
“The President is using federal power to deliver good governance… not for election rigging,” the governor said.
He urged opposition figures to stop what he described as attempts to undermine democratic principles ahead of the election.
Adeleke also called on political stakeholders to support credible elections and ensure that the votes of the people count.
“Our people are passionate about free and fair elections. Only electoral bandits boast of rigging in a democracy,” he said.
Several political leaders who attended the meeting reportedly declared their support for Adeleke’s re election bid.
Those present included the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Lasun Yusuf, and Senator Olu Alabi.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has scheduled the 2026 Osun State governorship election for August 15.
