Nigerian footballers were in action across Europe last weekend, delivering solid performances, defensive contributions, and mixed results for their respective clubs.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that in England, Ola Aina put up a disciplined display as Nottingham Forest came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw against Aston Villa at the City Ground. The right back played a key role in stabilising Forest’s defence, winning seven duels, making two interceptions, and completing 31 passes, including nine into the final third. Forest recovered from an early own goal to extend their unbeaten run to five matches, while Taiwo Awoniyi was not included in the matchday squad.
Goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo was busy despite Wrexham’s 2-0 defeat to Birmingham City at St Andrew’s. The Nigerian shot stopper made six important saves and kept his team in the contest for long periods before conceding twice early in the second half.
