According to a statement issued by LASTMA’s Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment, Adebayo Taofiq, the accident happened after a Lexus saloon car with registration number SMK 504 KH reportedly collided with the motorcycle while the rider was using the restricted flyover corridor in violation of the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Laws.
The impact of the crash reportedly forced the motorcycle into a Toyota Corolla with registration number KTU 308 HN, triggering a multiple-vehicle collision on the busy route.

LASTMA said both the rider and his passenger sustained severe injuries, including multiple leg fractures and other bodily wounds.
Traffic officials deployed to the Iyana-Iba area were said to have responded immediately by securing the accident scene, managing traffic and preventing further crashes on the flyover.
The injured victims were later evacuated for urgent medical treatment at Oyems Hospital with the assistance of good Samaritans and drivers involved in the incident.
Reacting to the development, LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, sympathised with the injured victims and wished them speedy recovery.
He also renewed the agency’s warning against the use of commercial motorcycles on restricted routes, highways and flyovers across Lagos State.
According to him, repeated violations of the ban continue to put lives at risk and contribute to traffic disorder within the state.
