Eyewitnesses said the vulcaniser was repairing the tyre of the stationary truck by the roadside when the moving truck lost control and crashed into it, killing him on the spot.
Confirming the incident, spokesperson for the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, said three persons were involved in the accident, all of them male.
He explained that the crash occurred after the MAN Diesel truck suffered a tyre burst, causing the driver to lose control before ramming into the stationary Howo truck where the vulcaniser was working.

Akinbiyi said operatives of TRACE and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) responded to the scene and carried out rescue operations.
The two injured victims were taken to the General Hospital Ifo for treatment, while the body of the deceased was deposited at the hospital’s morgue.
He added that the vehicles involved had been towed to the Papa Oscar yard for further investigation, noting that traffic flow along the highway was not significantly affected by the incident.
