I Never Said I Would Serve As Vice President To Anyone – Peter Obi
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, has refuted claims that he intends to serve as vice president to any specific candidate. In a recent interview with News Central, Obi discussed his presidential ambitions, the Labour Party, and Nigeria’s current economic challenges.
During the interview, the former governor of Anambra State addressed perceptions of desperation in his pursuit of the presidency, emphasizing his willingness to collaborate with other candidates under the right intentions.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a post on his X handle on Saturday, Obi asserted that parts of the interview had been deliberately misrepresented.
He reiterated his openness to collaboration with other candidates, stating that such partnerships should not focus on state capture.
Obi expressed, “I have been overwhelmed with calls and messages regarding my interview with News Central TV. While I used the opportunity to clarify my position, some individuals have chosen to distort the narrative for their own agendas.”

He continued, “Let me be clear: I do not seek to be preoccupied with 2027 while Nigerians are grappling with hunger, poverty, and insecurity.
“When asked about collaboration, I specifically mentioned my willingness to work with others who share my vision for Nigeria, as long as their intentions are genuine.”
Obi emphasized his commitment to the Labour Party and stated that any discussions about alliances must come from a place of transparency regarding intentions. “I am not desperate for the presidency or any position. I believe I can contribute to Nigeria’s growth without holding office. If I choose to run in 2027, it will not be alongside those focused solely on winning elections.”
