Eko Hot Blog reports that colleagues of late actor Murphy Afolabi, on Monday, stormed his 8th Day Fidau Prayer in their numbers to pay their last respect.
Afolabi died last Sunday at the age of 49.

The Nollywood actor reportedly died from injuries sustained from a fall at his Ikorodu, Lagos, residence a few days after his birthday.
The Osogbo, Osun State-born actor was subsequently buried in Ikorodu on Monday, May 15.
After his colleagues staged an artiste night programme for him at the LTV Blue Roof Arena in Ikeja, Lagos, on Sunday, May 21, 2023, they returned to the same venue for his 8th Day Fidau Prayer on Monday, May 22, 2023.

Speaking with reporters, including an Eko Hot Blog correspondent, Olaniyi Mikail Afonja, popularly known as Sanyeri, recounted how Afolabi facilitated the travel of his colleagues, including Sanyeri, to Canada at some point.
According to the comic actor, Afolabi used his Fatuns Films Production to ensure his colleagues’ travel.
Sanyeri, who recalled his warm friendship with the late actor, urged people not to do harm to their helpers.

Similarly, actress Kemi Korede recounted how the deceased positively impacted her life.
She recalled a time she was stranded at a film location and how Afolabi called popular Nigerian movie marketer, Kazim Adeoti, better known as Adekaz, to help her out.

Also, Nigerian fuji singer, Sulaimon Alao Adekunle, popularly known by his stage name KS1 Malaika, expressed profound sadness at the death of the actor.
The singer, who noted that death is inevitable and all will die, urged those alive to live honourably and do what people will remember for good.

The deceased’s family also spoke with Eko Hot Blog and other media platforms at the prayer programme.
Raheemot Afolabi, the wife of the late actor’s brother, narrated how he brought his younger brother to Lagos to boost his financial fortunes.

She prayed that God grants the deceased peace in his grave.

Other actors who attended the event included Yinka Quadri, Afeez Abiodun, popularly known as Afeez Owo, Ibironke Ojo-Anthony, better known as Ronke Oshodi-Oke, and Fausat Balogun.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Government, on Monday, mourned the death of Afolabi.
The Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf, in a Condolence Letter signed on behalf of the Ministry, described the actor’s demise as a great loss to the entertainment industry and the state government.
She said that the Lagos State Government takes solace in the fact that the deceased’s contributions to the movie and entertainment industry remain evergreen, especially his role as a mentor and influence for the youth population.
