National President of AWMAN, Olugbenga Adebola, said the decision aligns with the vision of the group’s Grand Patron, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and reflects a commitment to sustaining Lagos’ development trajectory.
“He has shown capacity, competence, and tenacity in every office he has occupied. His contributions to project development and governance have been instrumental to the successes recorded under different administrations,” Adebola said.
He described Hamzat as a seasoned technocrat whose experience across multiple administrations positions him as a strong candidate to lead the state.
Adebola recalled that Hamzat previously served as Commissioner for Science and Technology and later Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure during the administrations of Tinubu and Babatunde Raji Fashola, noting that he played key roles in infrastructure and technology-driven reforms.

He added that Hamzat, who currently serves as deputy to Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has continued to contribute to policy development and implementation.
According to him, Hamzat’s long-standing involvement in governance demonstrates deep institutional knowledge and continuity in leadership.
“He has shown capacity, competence, and tenacity… His contributions to project development and governance have been instrumental,” Adebola reiterated.
The AWMAN president also highlighted Hamzat’s leadership style, describing him as professional, responsive, and technically sound, with a strong commitment to public service.
He called on other professional groups and stakeholders in Lagos State to support the deputy governor’s ambition, expressing confidence that the state would remain on a path of growth under his leadership.
