EKO HOT BLOG reports that the initiative, he said, will not only beautify the city but also significantly enhance security within months.
Speaking at the flag-off, Wike noted that the first phase covers Lot 1 and Lot 2, which include districts such as Maitama, Central Area, Wuse, Asokoro, Katampe, Katampe Extension, Jabi, Garki, Gudu, Mabushi and the Airport Expressway.
According to the minister, the integrated solar lighting system will be equipped with surveillance features. He explained that the streetlights will be monitored from a central control room, making it possible to capture and prevent any act of vandalism.
Wike assured that the project would be completed within six months, while its full impact would be felt within seven months. He stressed that the Light Up Abuja initiative is not only about illumination but also about transforming the cityscape and boosting public safety.

“This project will change the face of Abuja and improve the sense of security across the capital,” Wike stated.
