The state government insisted that Fubara remains committed to governance and infrastructural development across Rivers State.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Wike had made the allegations during a media chat at his residence in Abuja on Wednesday, where he accused the governor of prioritising political calculations ahead of the 2027 election over governance and the passage of the 2026 budget.
The former Rivers governor also alleged that Fubara reneged on an agreement not to seek re-election following the intervention of President Bola Tinubu in the political crisis rocking the state.
Reacting to the allegations, the Chief Press Secretary to the Rivers State governor, Onwuka Nzeshi, described the claims as false.
Nzeshi spoke during a programme on Nigeria Info 92.3 FM in Port Harcourt on Friday.
He maintained that Fubara had continued to supervise and inspect key infrastructure projects across the state.
“It is not correct to say that His Excellency, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has been more focused on politics than governance,” Nzeshi said.
“If anybody says that, it means that person is not on the ground. His Excellency, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has been going around every part of the state.
“So it will be wrong for anybody to say the governor has been busy plotting 2027 instead of doing his job.”
Nzeshi also rejected claims that the governor abandoned projects inherited from the previous administration.
According to him, Fubara inherited 12 major road projects, with nine of them already above 70 percent completion.
He added that the first phase of the Trans-Kalabari Road and the Port Harcourt Ring Road projects had also reached advanced stages.
The governor’s spokesman urged residents to ignore what he described as attempts to discredit the administration.
“For someone who inherited 12 major road projects from his predecessor, nine of those projects are now above 70 per cent completion,” he said.

“Just last week, at two project sites, the Creek Road market and the Commissioner Quarters, he has been doing his job, the job of governance for which he was elected to do.
“He has shown commitment. He has shown persistence in terms of following up on the projects he met on the ground. He is not abandoning projects.”
