Two police officers have been killed after gunmen attacked a police station in Zonkwa town, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the incident, which occurred on Friday evening, threw the community into confusion as residents fled for safety amid heavy gunfire. Eyewitnesses said the attackers stormed the station located near Kamyim Hotel, Kurmin-Bi Zonkwa, and began shooting sporadically.
Reports indicate that the gunmen launched the assault in an attempt to free some suspected vandals who were earlier arrested in Kachia town. “They believed that the suspects were being detained at the Zonkwa Police Station,” an eyewitness said. “However, it was later discovered that those suspects were not held there, but the damage had already been done.”
Two officers were confirmed dead following the attack, while their bodies were found lying in uniform at the station. Residents later gathered at the scene, expressing fear and concern over the growing insecurity in the area.
Although calm has been restored to Zonkwa, the incident has sparked fresh anxiety among locals. The Kaduna State Police Command has not yet released an official statement regarding the attack as of the time of this report.
