- Woman Allegedly Headed for Fibroid Surgery Arrested With Cocaine at Airport

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a 43-year-old makeup artist, Adekoya Adebukonla Mary, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos, after 2.2 kilograms of cocaine were discovered concealed within the walls of her suitcasez Eko Hot Blog reports.
According to a statement released on Sunday by NDLEA spokesperson, Mr. Femi Babafemi, the suspect was apprehended on Monday, June 16, following actionable intelligence.
Surveillance officers monitored Adekoya as she checked in her luggage and arrested her just before boarding a Qatar Airways flight to India via Doha.

A search of her suitcase revealed two large parcels of cocaine weighing 2.2kg, neatly packed within the lining of her bag. During interrogation, Adekoya admitted she was traveling under the guise of seeking fibroid surgery in India but was actually motivated by financial gain.
Further investigations uncovered that she was recruited and sponsored by a drug kingpin identified as Akeem Ayinde Adekanbi, who remains at large.
Adekanbi reportedly owns Rockford Hotel in the Sango area of Ogun State and resides in the Igbe Laara community of Igbogbo, Ikorodu, Lagos State.
In related operations, NDLEA officers from the Directorate of Operation and General Investigation (DOGI) intercepted two separate drug shipments at courier companies in Lagos.
On Thursday, June 19, a parcel containing 1.3 kilograms of Loud a potent strain of cannabis hidden in sewn female garments and destined for Bahrain was seized. A day earlier, on Wednesday, June 18, another 850 grams of cocaine concealed in cloth hangers and bound for Australia was intercepted.
Meanwhile, in Bauchi State, NDLEA personnel acting on credible intelligence arrested two suspects, Ibrahim Galadima, 37, and Ibrahim Muhammed, 28, along the Bauchi Darazo road on Monday, June 16. They were found in possession of 1,013,000 opioid pills, including tramadol, diazepam, and exol-5.
