In a move to enhance joint efforts against insurgency, the Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, held a meeting with the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, as well as the Commander of Sector II Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, in Damaturu.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the meeting followed recent attacks on four communities in Borno State, where several soldiers lost their lives in assaults believed to have been carried out by Boko Haram insurgents.

Prior to the meeting, Governor Zulum had visited troops at the 29 Task Force Brigade in Benisheikh to express his condolences and show support.

He then traveled to Damaturu, where he met privately with the army chief, who was also in the state for operational purposes.

Earlier, the governor voiced concern over the deteriorating security situation, urging residents of affected communities to cooperate with the military by sharing useful intelligence that could help bring an end to the conflict, which has persisted for over a decade.
On Thursday, insurgents launched a coordinated assault on troops stationed at the 29 Task Force Brigade headquarters in Benisheikh, under Operation Hadin Kai.

According to military sources, the troops, led by Brigade Commander Brigadier General Oseni Braimah, mounted a strong resistance, demonstrating courage and tactical superiority that ultimately forced the insurgents to withdraw.
Despite successfully repelling the attack, the military confirmed that a number of soldiers were killed during the encounter, though their identities were not disclosed.
In a statement, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, acknowledged the loss, noting that the fallen soldiers paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
