2025 Ramadan: Sultan Makes Fresh Announcement For Nigerian Muslims
Friday, January 31, 2025, is declared as the first day of Sha’aban.
Muslims are urged to follow official announcements and prepare for Ramadan.
The Sultanate Council Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs has confirmed that there were no verified sightings of the crescent moon marking the beginning of Sha’aban 1446AH.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the announcement, made in collaboration with the National Moon Sighting Committee, is crucial for Muslims as Sha’aban precedes the holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Wazirin Sokoto and Chairman of the Advisory Committee, Sambo Wali Junaidu, stated that moon sighting committees across the country reported no positive sightings. As a result, Thursday, January 30, 2025, will be regarded as the 30th day of Rajab 1446AH.
“His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), has accepted the report and officially declared Friday, January 31, 2025, as the first day of Sha’aban 1446AH,” the statement read.
The declaration plays a vital role in ensuring consistency in the Islamic calendar and religious observances across the country. The Sultanate Council also advised Muslims to rely on official sources for Islamic date announcements and prepare spiritually for the upcoming Ramadan.
