Rev. Ukpai, whose ministry spanned more than six decades, was celebrated globally for his fiery crusades, dynamic preaching, and commitment to evangelism across Nigeria and beyond. The statement read in part: “With hearts full of gratitude, we celebrate the triumphant homegoing of Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, who passed on to glory on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80. Describing him as a “spiritual general and founding father of faith,” the family added that he was a devoted husband, father, and mentor whose life exemplified humility, love, and devotion to God’s work.
The family also noted that funeral arrangements and details of his final rites would be announced in due course.

Quoting from the scriptures, the statement concluded: “We are grateful to God for his extraordinary life and enduring legacy. For indeed, ‘To live is Christ, and to die is gain.’ (Philippians 1:21).”
