EKO HOT BLOG reports that Justice James Omotosho, who presided over the case, issued the directive on Thursday, cautioning that no party should take any step that could “jeopardise or render the subject matter of the litigation nugatory.”
The ruling came after PDP’s lawyer, Chris Uche (SAN), raised concerns that the ongoing litigation was stalling the party’s preparations for the convention and requested an accelerated hearing.
Responding, Justice Omotosho assured that judgment would be delivered before the end of October and warned against any delay tactics by any of the parties.
He stated, “Once a suit is filed and parties have been served with processes, the law requires that no party should take further steps on the matter. The court must not be overreached, and if such occurs, it has the power to nullify any actions taken. Let us respect the law; it is in our collective interest.”
The judge further said, “I can assure you that the judgment will be ready between now and the end of October. I type my own judgments myself, so there will be no issue of delay.”
Justice Omotosho then adjourned the matter to Monday for a definite hearing, confirming that all parties had been duly served with court documents.

The case was filed by three aggrieved PDP officials — Austin Nwachukwu (Imo PDP Chairman), Amah Abraham Nnanna (Abia PDP Chairman), and Turnah George (PDP South-South Secretary) — who are seeking to halt the party’s national convention scheduled for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State, where new national officers are expected to be elected.
