NPC Lagos, UNICEF Strengthen Collaboration on Birth Registration Framework
The Lagos State Office of the National Population Commission (NPC) on Friday received a delegation from the UNICEF Child Protection Unit, led by Dr. Ibrahim Sesay, Head of Party, UNICEF Global Child Protection Unit, UN Building, Abuja. He was joined by Mr. Denise Onoise, Child Protection Specialist, UNICEF Lagos Field Office.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the visit focused on strengthening collaboration and clarifying the roles of key stakeholders — NPC, ALGON, and NIMC — in line with the Tripartite Compact Agreement signed by the three institutions.
Dr. Sesay reaffirmed UNICEF’s commitment to working with the NPC to ensure effective birth registration across Lagos State. According to him,
“The National Population Commission continues to play a leading role in the architecture of birth registration across Nigeria, and our mission is to enhance this leadership through strategic partnerships.”
In her response, the Honourable Federal Commissioner representing Lagos State, Barrister (Mrs.) Saidat Olayinka Oladunjoye, commended the UNICEF team for providing clarity on the framework.
