Security expert Bulama Bukarti has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for reshuffling the nation’s service chiefs, describing the move as timely and necessary for strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture.
Eko Hot Blog reports that while speaking on Sunday Politics, a Channels Television programme, Bukarti said the leadership changes were long overdue given the resurgence of terrorist activities in parts of the country.

“When you look at what has happened in Nigeria’s security landscape over the past year or two, you realise that a change of leadership is long overdue,” he said.
Bukarti noted that while both the Tinubu administration and former President Muhammadu Buhari’s government recorded significant gains in weakening Boko Haram in the North-East, recent developments have shown a disturbing resurgence of the group.
“Unfortunately, over the past year, we’ve seen Boko Haram launching attacks on military formations in Borno and Yobe States, killing soldiers in some cases. Our security system has deteriorated, and if the President is responding to that reality, then this change is the right step,” he added.

The security consultant emphasized that leadership renewal within the armed forces is essential to restoring momentum in Nigeria’s counterterrorism operations and improving morale among troops.
