According to the prosecution, the defendants were armed with a gun and wooden planks when they carried out the attack, offences contrary to Sections 421 and 321 (2)(b) of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.
In her testimony, the octogenarian victim recounted that the robbers stormed her room at about 1 a.m., demanding money. She said one of them pointed a gun at her forehead while another held a plank.
“They lifted my mattress and took the ₦100,000 I kept there, another ₦47,000 hidden in my underwear, and my wristwatch,” she told the court.
She added that the suspects also took her phone but later returned it. They allegedly coerced her into promising to withdraw ₦3 million from her bank account and give it to her househelp, Adunola Precious, to deliver to them later that day.
The prosecutor, Kunle-Shina Adeyemo, presented witnesses and evidence including the defendants’ statements, a search warrant, and a wooden gun. Each defendant called one witness through their counsel, Oluwatoyin Marcus and Mitchel Aribisala.

Delivering judgment, Justice Lekan Ogunmoye held that the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt. The judge noted that Adunola Precious, the victim’s househelp, played a key role by granting the robbers access to the home.
“The charge of conspiracy and armed robbery has been proved beyond reasonable doubt. The defendants are guilty as charged,” the judge declared.
He subsequently sentenced all three defendants to death by hanging, praying that God have mercy on their souls.
