Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) is determined not to repeat the challenges it experienced during the 2023 elections as preparations gather momentum for the 2027 general polls.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the governor stated this after leading the APC governorship candidate, Obafemi Hamzat, party leaders and the 40 APC candidates for the Lagos State House of Assembly on an Eid-el-Kabir visit to Bola Ahmed Tinubu at his Lagos residence.

Speaking with journalists after the meeting, Sanwo-Olu said the party had directed all candidates to strengthen unity within the APC and intensify engagement with voters across their constituencies.
According to him, candidates have been reminded that they emerged on the platform of the APC and must work closely with party stakeholders, including those who contested against them during the primaries.
“We have told them that they emerged under the umbrella of the party and not under any group or association. They must close ranks, reach out to everyone and continue engaging their constituents,” he said.

The governor noted that the APC intends to begin grassroots mobilisation early, stressing that candidates must collaborate with councillors, ward executives, local government officials and other party leaders to consolidate support ahead of the elections.
Sanwo-Olu said the party possesses the organisational structure, manpower and data required for a successful campaign but warned against complacency.
“We will not take anything for granted. There is a lot of work to be done, and every candidate must remain connected to the grassroots and the party structure,” he added.
He explained that the visit to President Tinubu was organised to formally present the party’s governorship candidate and House of Assembly flag bearers while also seeking the President’s guidance and blessings ahead of the election season.
According to the governor, the meeting provided an opportunity for the candidates to interact directly with the President and receive encouragement as they prepare for the task ahead.
Sanwo-Olu disclosed that the candidates pledged to promote the achievements of both the Federal Government and the Lagos State Government in their constituencies as part of efforts to secure support for the APC.
He said they also assured the President of their readiness to resist distractions from opposition parties and remain focused on delivering victory for the APC in the 2027 elections.
The governor expressed confidence that the meeting had further motivated the candidates and strengthened their resolve to market the party’s programmes and achievements to Lagos residents.
