63rd Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony: Burna Boy To Perform
Burna Boy, famous Nigerian singer, has been named as one of the artists who will perform at the 63rd Grammy Awards on March 14, 2021.
The event organizers revealed this on Tuesday in a blog post outlining activities for this year’s edition of the awards.

Burna Boy will play alongside Lido Pimienta, a Colombian-Canadian musician; Poppy, an American singer; and Rufus Wainwright.

According to the Academy, “all of the premiere ceremony performers and the host, as well as the bulk of the presenters, are nominated this year.”
Burna Boy is up for a Grammy Award in the Best Global Music Category at the 2021 Grammy Awards, alongside Tuareg desert rock band Tinariwen, NYC afrobeat group Antibalas, Brazilian-American Bebel Gilberto, and British-Indian sitar player Anoushka Shankar, for his 2020 album “Twice As Tall.”
The category was renamed to “make it more progressive and inclusive” after it was formerly recognized as the international category of Best World Music Song.
Note that this is the musician’s second Grammy nomination; at the 62nd Grammy Awards, he was nominated in the category of “Best World Music Album” for his album “African Giant,” but lost to Beninese singer-songwriter Angelique Kidjo.
Jhene Aiko will host this year’s awards, which were initially scheduled for January but were postponed due to worries about the coronavirus pandemic.
It will begin with a star-studded tribute performance to commemorate the late American music legend Marvin Gaye’s 50th birthday.
